Running has been going very well for me this year so far. I have been able to pick up some pretty good maintenance miles, weight training and speed work. I have been having so much fun going to the Y and working out and meeting new people. It is funny that the guys and girls who work out at the Y are asking what kind of weight training I want, toned or muscle mass... I always have got the same response when I say, mountain climber muscles please. I have been getting some good advice but when a girl has better toned muscles than I do, I almost am compelled to listen. ;-) But I will still out run them all, if I pick the distance. Funny, on one morning this guy was lifting 85lb dumb bells and he said "Rob, you need these?" I smiled and said "let me warm up." LOL
I am going to summarize the past two weeks cause I found myself with my "head up my ass" and I did not log my miles. Yea, I ran that trail. :-) Basically the 3rd week of January I had some really nice runs with friends both at Mohican, Columbus Highbanks, and CVNP. It has been a pleasure running with some fast and understanding runners. I estimate I only had about 40 miles that week. Part of my run was facing snow on tough conditions that kept my miles down but pace solid hard work out. I followed it up with weights and then 3 miles at the Y with two at a 7:30 per miles pace. Nice!
Last week I was sick on Tuesday to Thursday I was in bed each day after work. I was able to get out Friday night for a light run and even a beer or two in Columbus with friends. I was planning on 26 miles Saturday morning and staying up too late before I headed north. I laid there in bed Friday night and slept just as best as I have in a long time. It was wonderful and Thank You! Hated to say good bye but, happy for you too... But I had to get out of bed and onto some trails! But sleep would had been great!
Saturday. I had a large training group for Forget the PR where I ended up having a few more runners than that had emailed me. I was able to get some miles in but had to break to go get some additional water etc for the group. The weeks total only 19 miles... Ugh! So, I took Sunday off and here we are Monday Morning.
I am off to look at Scaffolding that collapsed after I visited a construction site and warned them of safety issues with their set up. They butted heads with me, well, I will be there when they pull in this morning. New week, New Month, New Directions.
