That is right!
This past weekend I went to run in the FA No Shirt 50k at the Cuyahoga National Parks. The course took me 16.2 miles out and back on some tough trail conditions while I ran 28 miles of it all alone.
I did keep catching up with the second place runners (Roy, Teri and Michelle). I say second place lightly as the reality is that it would not have been a second pace if they were racing. I know Teri would have opened a can of whoop ass up. Man she is and awesome runner! I think she ran 25 the day before. Amazing. I am sure that Michelle would have taken Roy and god knows how many of the girls that turned around at the 40k spot would have kept going. BUT THEY DID NOT!
I was very proud to see Michelle kicking ass running strong in front of me. I felt like I was playing Indian run from mile 16.2 on but Roy, Teri and Michelle was just not going to let me lead. LOL. I must have caught them 10 times on the way back only to see them pull away once more. At one point, I came to an aid station and they were all standing there saying "here he is again we cant loose you" and I smiled knowing the competitiveness of Michelle and Teri "Why are you still here? I hear voices right behind me." I said, I smiled with glee as the three took off in a rush.
I later ran into then three miles down the trail and I shared my joke. Ha Ha!
But as steady as I ran they never bonked but rather pulled away. Great job!
I finished with a 7:27. The second place group finished with a 7:22 and first a 6:38. What tough trail conditions! I have to tell you that I am damn proud of myself for my run this day! I kicked ass! No one else told me so Ithought Iwould. LOL
I am continuing my training, swims, weights and steam and sauna training. I am getting ready to add biking. We will see what this year brings with Mohican. I do see some changes in future running distances. For now I will continue running and working with the run walk method for now.
Well off to recover from my 15 miler today and I have a long run in the morning at 7:15 am. I hope to exceed some miles as a second long weekend training run. This weekend and next weekend. I hope to get 30 plus miles in tomorrow.
